This is a comprehensive guide to how we structure and manage our servers.
I just want to emphasize that we are still just a community of passionate people. We are not a company and this is not our job nor do we receive any monetary compensation.
We wouldn’t be where we are without the passion, free time and dedication of our team and community.
Therefor, we would like to ask you to please be understanding and patient. We try to offer our community the best experience when using our services, but sometimes we just don’t have the time, infrastructure or just knowledge to provide a 100% smooth experience.
I. Ownership
Generally, there are two categories when it comes to who owns a server in our network; Internal and external.
Internal means that the server is an official Comsicare-Networks project and one of our staff members is considered the owner/Lead-Administrator. This means that our structure can be applied to the server.
External means that the server is hosted in our network, but the actual owner/Lead-Admin is not part of our network. In that case, they still have to follow our guidelines but they are free to apply their own structure as they see fit.
II. Public - Invite only - Private
Our projects generally fall into one of three categories or their derivatives:
- Public; The server is publicly accessible to anyone, no matter their relationship with our community.
- Invite only; The server is only accessible to a certain group of people or is restricted in some other way. Getting access, by invite or similar is possible.
- Private; The server is only accessible to a closed group.
This status not only impacts who can join the server but also some other things like the server archive or accessibility/existence of their respective subcategory.
This status is set by the owner of the server.
III. General server status
Projects end, projects are paused and projects are planned. Our servers are all categorized to get some order into that mess.
Each of our servers has one of 4 statuses, running, paused, planned/in development, or deprecated and archived.
The status of a server is reflected in their respective server sheet (if available) or our global server list.
Currently running
The server is currently online. Connection information and restrictions can be found in the server list or their respective server sheets.
Currently paused
The project is paused. This can have various reason. The most common reasons for a pause are; lack of interest, prolonged maintenance, severe server issue, temporary shift of resource allocation.
You can find the exact reason and potential ETA for a reopen in the server list or their respective server sheet.
Currently planned / In development
The project has been announced and is being worked on.
You can find more details and a potential ETA for a release in the server list or their respective server sheets.
Deprecated and archived
The project is considered finished. Servers that are marked as archived will not be reopened as an official server. Depending on their privacy status, their server-files can be found in our server archive.
Subcategories for these servers are mostly archived as well. Their runtime can be found in the server list or their respective server sheets.
IV. Staff
The way we handle management tasks and moderation on our servers differs depending on what type of server it is.
Our official projects and community servers are usually moderated by our staff team.
Projects from any external admins are moderated by the external admins and/or their staff. In some cases our team might also be involved.
